LEVERAGING sustainable fisheries to build the africa we want

The main objective of E€OFISH is to promote equitable economic growth by promoting sustainable fishing, whereas its expected results are the following:

Enhanced regional policies and institutional frameworks to secure more sustainable fisheries management and contribute to marine biodiversity and climate resilience.

Strengthened capacity to prevent, deter and eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing in the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Region
3
Concrete fisheries management and governance initiatives in small-scale inland and marine fisheries are supported with possibilities of replication at the regional level.

The inland and marine coastal fisheries resources of the Eastern Africa, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region represent a natural wealth of about € 50 billion. ECOFISH strives to ensure the sustainable management of these assets by putting in place policies to handle them effectively,  by protecting them and by promoting good fishing practices.
