Reinforcing capacity of DMRO’s & priority Actions

ACTIONS CARRIED OUT:

• NKE’s completed their work with the DMRO’s  - Completed

• Follow up actions: MCSCC for IGAD - Await reaction from IGAD

• Feasibility for a RFB in the IGAD region - Initial work done by NKE’s 

• BE strategy - Initial work done by NKE’s

• New course being developed  “ Law, Blue Economy & Sustainable Fisheries Management”.  Joint collaboration between Ecofish, Open University,  Fish force, N.Mandela Uni, and others - Discussion & work Ongoing. 

• Courses expected to start in January 2022.

• CN ready and shared

• MOU with the Open University of Mauritius 
   

PLAN FOR 2021-2022

• Follow up on IGAD (MCSCC/RFB) & COMESA (Blue economy)

• Complete regional situation Analysis

• Follow up on the BEFSA SA 1.6

• CN + TOR: Education for Sustainable Fisheries Management & the Blue Economy. 

• Hiring of a consultant to assist on the course development if necessary.
